This week: Digestive Disorders and Herbs to Treat Them

I touched on some digestive disorders in the posts on detoxification. This week I will cover Diverticulitis, Candida, and SIBO (small intestinal bacteria overgrowth). If you think these might be a affecting you, take a look at my post dated 2/29/16. The digestive dysfunction checklist lists some signs of both SIBO and Candida.

I'll also include information on herbs used to treat digestive disorders. Use of herbs to treat illness is an ancient practice. Herbs may take a little longer to resolve a digestive disorder than a pharmaceutical, but herbs typically have fewer side effects.

These days traditional societies practice use of herbs with greater frequency than do industrialized societies. Historically herbs were used by trial and error. This has led to herbs becoming specialized to specific maladies.

There is a great deal of research currently being conducted on herbs and the constituents in these herbs. These are rigorous scientific studies using valid research methods. This is leading to better classification systems and  as well as confirmation that herbs really do work.
Here's some peppermint from my garden.
